Other Council Area

We don’t have any Microchip Scanning Locations in your area but there are still a few things you can do:

  1. Door knock the area where you found the dog if safe to do so. Most dogs are found near where their home is.

  2. Post the dog in all local Facebook groups to say you found the dog to see if anyone knows the owner. Also ask if there’s someone who can scan the dog for a microchip. After being scanned for a microchip, a Found Dog Report could then be submitted by the person who scans the dog for a microchip. We can look up the microchip and try to find the owner 8am-10pm EVERY day and we respond within minutes during this time.

  3. Please take the found dog to the pound within 24 hours if not reclaimed.

Every council has a designated pound for their lost dogs but it is not always the closest one. To locate the right pound for a lost dog, search the address of where the dog was found here to identify the council, then check the pet section of that council's website for the correct pound. Some vets may be willing to scan the dog for a microchip and try find the owner but they are NOT legally obligated to scan (and many are unable to hold) dogs so call them first before going there.

We intend to launch FindMyOwner in more locations soon so feel free to check back soon. We can add Microchip Scanning Locations in any council area in NSW where the council is on board to direct lost dogs to our scanning locations.
